HIGH STRENGTH POSITIVE TENSION SHEAR BOLTS ( TC BOLTS ) INTRODUCTION ADVANTAGES INSTALLATION PROCEDURES DIMENSIONS MECHANICAL PROPERTIES High Strength Positive
Tension Shear Bolts have their own built in torque control device and are installed
without the use of torque-controlled tools. The torque requirements
of the bolts are achieved by engaging the bolt and nut with inner and outer sockets and
driving with the electric shear wrench until
the control groove shears off the spline. 1. Controlled- fastener
tension can be assured 2. Proper bolt torque can be confirmed by the shear-off of the spline. 3. Visual inspection -(No torque gauges required) 4. No special expertise required for installation. 5. Wrench adjustment not
required 6. Installation can be achieved by one operator on one side of the structure. 7. Substantial
reduction in installation noise. 8. Cost saving as a
result of substantial reduction of labor and time. 1. Place bolt thru hole
in the joining members. 2. Attach washer &
run up nut finger tight to the working members. 3. Fit the inner socket firmly over the
bolt tip (spline). 4. Engage the outer
socket over the nut by pushing the wrench. 5. Pull lever switch to
on. The outer socket rotates the nut until the torque control groove in the spline shears
off, thereby achieving proper bolt tension. 6. Turn off wrench when
bolt tip (spline) shears off. 7. Pull the wrench back to remove outer socket from the nut.
8. Pull the eject lever on the wrench to discharge the severed bolt tip (spline) from the inner socket.
